The shoe manufacturer Extraordinary boudoir sized cabinet card of a shoe manufacturer intently examining the quality of his product. Holding a man’s slip on style shoe he studies the workmanship making sure nary a seam or thread is out of place. A large rack of numerous styles of shoes is on display next to him. In fact while it is hard to determine for sure the top shelf looks to possibly show some kind plimsolls or a similar early type of tennis shoe. Behind the owner is his impressive piece of machinery with its intricate system of large pulleys and belts. This was certainly state of the art equipment for the time period. The image is in excellent minus condition with strong tones and contrast. We also love what appears to be natural light beaming through the ceiling. There are two pencil inscriptions on the back with one that reads Laconia, NH., and the other, 10/11/82 Alton, NH. We actually suspect this was in Alton as they had numerous shoe factories as early as 1859. $75 |
